Teacher Workshops: Learning About American Culture Through Blues Music and Folk Art

IHOBF-Anaheim offered its first full year of programming to the Orange County community in 2003, reaching nearly 11,000 students, teachers and Orange County community members through the Blues SchoolHouse program. Also, IHOBF-Anaheim launched its first Make An Impression Guitar and Drum Programs in the fall of 2003, in partnership with Oxford Academy of Anaheim Union High School District. IHOBF-Anaheim has been active in the educational community by presenting at California Music Educator’s Association, Orange County Music and Art Administrator’s Association, Southern California Band and Orchestra Association and by serving as an arts education advocate in connection with various Orange County school districts.

IHOBF-Anaheim Make An Impression Drum Program students (and teachers) from Oxford Academy participated in the 2003 Drum Workshop Drum Day program at the House of Blues-Anaheim venue.

Orange County teachers participated in an IHOBF Folk Art Tour during a Blues SchoolHouse Teacher Orientation session.

The IHOBF-Anaheim Blues SchoolHouse band took the show on the road recently, presenting the program at the Cerritos Center in Cerritos, CA.
