Blues music, a unique American art
form, can teach us much about American history and culture.
It also offers powerful lessons about the strength of the
human spirit and the importance of creative and artistic
expression. We encourage teachers, students and others to
explore the blues and related traditions of folk art by using
IHOBF resources such as the Blues SchoolHouse Timeline (found
in the Blues SchoolHouse Classroom Guide), and by using the
Blues SchoolHouse experience as a model for further exploration
of culture and history through the arts
